Modifications to the humble turntable.
The simplest and most effective upgrade.
Many turntables have a 'DIN' type plug that plugs into the base of the tonearm assembly at the turntable end and RCA type connectors at the other end. The power output from a low output moving coil cartridge is in the very low milli-watt if not micro-watt range. The inherent energy is very low indeed. The effect of the capacitance and resistance of a soldered joint on this type of signal is quite debilitating. The BrendaTM connector has an electrical resistance in the micro-ohm range. This allows for the efficient passage of any electrical signal with the minimum loss of energy. The integrity of the inherent information embedded within the electrical signal is preserved.
There is nothing that can be done about the DIN plug but there is about those RCA's. Replacing them with BrendaTM B3 connectors or the BrendaTM B9 will open up a level of information that you never thought possible. ( A further nail in the digital coffin ). This is the simplest modification which takes the quality of reproduction to an equivalent upgrade of nearly twice the value of the turntable.
The next series of modifications are the replacement of the standard RCA chassis receptors to TomCatsTM or replacing the all the RCA's with MinMin-LightsTM ( and so obviating the need to acquire either BrendasTM or TomCatsTM ) and achieve a level of performance at the peak that modern technology can allow. If your turntable smarts RCA's as its output you can elect to either replace these with MinMin-LightsTM or TomCatsTM
MinMin-LightsTM do not require special connector components. The MinMin-LightTM is the connector component. The interconnector wire has its ends stripped and is secured into its MinMin-LightTM receptive cylinder. Correspondingly as the MinMin-LightTM straddles the appliance interface the internal connecting wires within the appliance are also secured into the MinMin-LightTM. Consequently the degree of efficiency of signal transmission is the best possible. Only fusion welding of the connecting wires at the appliance interface is better.
By far the easiest modification is adapting your existing interconnectors to Brenda'sTM
Modifications to the CD, CD variants and Cassette player.
These appliances are the easiest to modify due to the extra space within these appliances. If you replace your standard RCA connectors on your interconnect cable with BrendaTM; most times this is adequate and will deliver a considerable improvement in information recovered and enjoyment of the music to a more intimate level is realized.
Replacing the RCA chassis receptors on the CD and Cassette appliances with TomCatsTM will further improve the quality of reproduction. the biggest quantum leap is when the RCA or balanced connectors are dispensed with and the transition interface connection component is the MinMin-LightTM.
Modifications to the pre-amp.
This is the most difficult component to modify. Unless you are building your pre-amp from scratch then if your pre-amp is a slim design then forget it. You will end up having to relocate the electronics into a deeper chassis and cutting many more holes than you ever felt the need to. If you are a keen DIY'er then this will not deter you. The pre-amp's inability for modification does not preclude using any of the Bocchino Audio Components anywhere else. Utilizing BrendasTM on one end of your interconnector cable and a soldered connection to a standard RCA type connector at the pre-amp end will still result in an improvement in the performance from your audio component.
If you have a pre-amp with at least 25mm centres between left and right channels then the use of either both BrendasTM or TomCatsTM is viable.
Modifications to the power amp.
This is normally an easy audio appliance to modify. Monopoles®, TomCatsTM, MinMin-LightTM and WireGrubsTM are all possibilities here. Monopoles® replace the binding posts, either TomCatsTM or MinMin-LightTM replace the transition interface input component and WireGrubsTM can be used to replace the circuit board input interface component where this is possible.
Modifications to the loudspeaker.
This is where it all started. Monopoles® replace the loudspeakers binding posts and WireGrubsTM can be used to re-wire the crossover. WireTailsTM can be adapted for the loudspeaker transducer bindingposts and CaneToadsTM to give your transducers a more secure anchoring into the loudspeaker enclosure.
Why Bother!
If your quest, your holy grail, is the pursuit of excellence from the electronic reproduction of audio, then the components within this web site are designed to take you to the maximum limit that your appliance is able to achieve. The bare-wire high pressure interface connectors available from Bocchino Audio are the result of an extensive and thorough design process that started in mid 1984. The consequence is the decline of the noise floor, the stabilization of the stereo-holographic image, the improvement in transient response and the consequent reduction in colouration all take the listener closer and closer to the sense and feel of the original performance.
Simple modifications such as just installing BrendasTM as replacements of the RCA's on any of your interconnect cables that connects your source ( cd, dvd, turntable, cassette ) to your amplifier ( or pre-amplifier ) input, delivers the most startling improvement. From there it just gets better.
