Ode to Nonno
By the Helen and Maurice's Children.

Nonno we miss you now you're gone
But in our hearts you'll always live on

It was your love of children that we all felt
We didn't have to do much to make you melt

Your sense of humour never failed
No matter how much your body ailed

Eating pasta was your delight
At the head of the table, in full sight

Nonno you were good at many things, you see
Just take a look at your cherished lemon tree

Your veggie garden was a sacred place
You cared for it with love and grace

As soon as a sunny day came by
Out the sliding door your wheels would fly

At playing bocce you were the best
You left no hope for the rest

Your great love of music has been passed along
You played the harmonica whilst the others sang the song

We thought your haircuts were lots of fun
You always ended up with a number one

Nonno you had a heart of gold
Seen clearly in the smile we'd behold

Now that your new life has made a start
We leave you lovingly in God's Sacred Heart
