1. Nonna valued having her family around her, which gave her great joy and a sense of completion.
We Pray that people may also experience this love and support of
a family and community as was lived by Nonna

2. Nonna's experience of migration was initially painful and traumatic because of the isolation she experienced. Through her faith, her love for her husband and family she drew on her strength and developed a community and new life for herself with her family.
We pray for people who are new to our land and our community, knowing
the pain of isolation , we remember to reach out to others as Nonna did.

3. Creativity was interwoven in Nonna's life. She used her talents such as sewing, cooking and caring for the home to provide for her family as well as the community that gathered around her.
We pray that the talents of home making which give support and create
security continue to be valued in our family lives.

4. Nonna was always welcoming to anyone who visited her home. She provided and cared for them as part of her family, especially children.
We pray that we also open our hearts and homes to others as Nonna
did.

5. Nonna and Nonno were devoted to their God and each other. They had 51 years together in marriage and 2 ½ months apart when Nonno died. We rejoice that they are now reunited as they had promised each other.
We pray that all married people may also experience this companionship
and are nourished by God's love in their lives together.

6. Nonna's final journey to her God was steered by the experience of dementia. The slow stripping of all earthly attachments was a final preparation for meeting her God. During this time she was cared for by her family, community, carers, doctors and nurses.
We remember all people who are experiencing this illness, their families and communities who walk beside them as they are prepared to meet their God. We pray that they know God's comforting love through the support they give each other and the inner strength which carries them forward in caring.
